Data from the Mid-America Freight Coalition indicates that there are nearly 400,000 people in the greater Kansas City area who work in the freight industry. This large number highlights the increasing demand for talent within our industry. In order to compensate for this growing demand in transportation and logistics, SmartWay Transportation, Inc, a Leawood-based third party logistics provider, is looking to add additional employees to our staff. SmartWay is particularly looking to add several account executive positions to help coordinate between shippers and carriers.
As we’ve mentioned previously, SmartWay is a recognized logistics provider that doesn’t believe in a set concept of the right kind of person. While our team would like individuals that are knowledgeable in the freight industry, Ben Bolan, our sales director, says that it isn’t a necessity to succeed in the job, “It’s easier to take someone with sales chops and teach them freight.”
We are specifically seeking individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit that are also looking to forge personal connections. Our team is more than capable to training anyone on how to work and succeed within the transportation and logistics industry. While you may not know the difference between a dry-van ann an open deck trailer, our unique training program will help you understand when each method is ideal. At SmartWay, all we ask is that you be a laid-back individual that can joke around with the rest of the team.
